A chart is not the finish line. A decision is.

Data becomes information. Information becomes knowledge. Knowledge becomes a decision you can act on. AI does the sorting. People check every number.

That is the idea behind everything at B4A. Here is the method in practice.

The six steps: decision, source, explore with AI, check, visual story, decide and act
The six steps: decision, source, explore with AI, check, visual story, decide and act

Show and tell: the B4A method. The two dark cards are the two halves of how we work: AI explores, humans decide.

The six steps

1. Start with the decision. Before we touch any data, we write down the decision it should inform, who makes it and by when. A vague question gets a vague chart. You get a one-page question brief.

2. Find the primary source. We go to the statistical office, the regulator, the register or the filing itself, and note where each number lives and when it was published. You get a source log with links and dates.

3. Explore with AI. AI scans the data far faster than a person can. It surfaces patterns, outliers and comparisons we might not have thought to ask for. You get a shortlist of findings worth testing.

4. Check the numbers. We trace each figure to its published source, reconcile totals and check that definitions match across years. We also write down what the data cannot tell you. You get a checked dataset and a note on its limits.

5. Turn it into a visual story. One idea per chart. The headline states the finding. The source is printed underneath. You get charts, a written story and, if useful, an explorer.

6. Decide and act. We walk through what the evidence supports and what it does not, set out the options with their trade-offs and agree the next move. You get a decision memo with recommended next steps.

Where this shows up

  • The B4A Data and AI Playground applies the method to public data on migration, trade, finance, education and tourism, with the source on every chart.
  • The Studio applies it to your own data: data stories, marketing content, short videos, websites, demos and dashboards.
  • Consulting applies it to your decisions: AI and Tech Advisory, partnerships, market entry, business development and fundraising.
  • For nonprofits and foundations, it powers board dashboards, year-end revenue forecasts and program impact tracking.

What we leave out on purpose

  • No chart that makes two points.
  • No number without a source.
  • No claim that the data cannot support.
  • No AI output that a person has not read.

Try step one this week

Pick one decision you face. Write it as a question, with an owner and a date. If you would like a second pair of eyes on it, send it to us and we will tell you honestly what the data can and cannot answer.
